14 July 2010 [12:55] - TODAY.AZ
The main aim of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishenko's upcoming official visit to Azerbaijan is to bring the two countries' positions on many important issues closer, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine Talat Aliyev said.

Grishenko plans to pay his first official visit to Azerbaijan on July 17-18, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry official Oleg Voloshin told the Ukrainian media previously.

Voloshin said Grishenko plans to meet with the Azerbaijani state leaders and discuss issues of security in the Caucasus and energy projects.

Grishenko has recently been appointed to this post. He intends to forge closer relations with Azerbaijan with a view that the two countries voice a unified position on important issues for both parties on the international arena, the ambassador added.

During the visit, the sides are not expected to sign documents.

Grishenko will visit Baku after Almaty, where he will take part in the informal OSCE ministerial meeting on July 16-17.
