Azerbaijani ombudsman to attend international event organized by Council of Europe

Azerbaijani Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova will visit Strasbourg July 8-9 to take part in an international event on "Rational and Independent institutions for the promotion of legal equality" organized by the Office of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.

During the visit, Suleymanova is expected to meet with several officials of the Council of Europe and discuss prospects for future cooperation in the field of human rights, the Ombudsman apparatus reported.

Speaking at the event, Suleymanova will report about the activities in field of human rights in our country, the obtained results, the outlook for human rights and their implementation and provide detailed information about the proposals and recommendations to improve relevant legislation.

Suleymanova is a member of the European network of national preventive mechanisms, organized network of national human rights institutions, the Council of Europe, including the Directorate General of Human Rights and Legal Affairs, Council of Europe and the Association of Council of Europe on the Prevention of Torture.

The event will address the role of national human rights institutions in the implementation of legal equality, strategic resource allocation to ensure the rationalization of institutions, cooperation with other entities in the field of human rights and exchange views and share information on other topics.
