Famous Azerbaijani scientist Lotfi Zadeh: Azerbaijan is a regional leader, with developed economy and stable foreign policy

Azerbaijan is a country leading in the region with stable economies and stable foreign policy, Famous Azerbaijani Scientist Lotfi Zadeh said in an interview with Trend. Zadeh addressed these words to U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton, who will arrive in Azerbaijan July 4.

Zadeh is a famous mathematician, founder of the theory of fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic. Zadeh was born in Baku in 1944. He has been living in the United States since 1959 and works in the University of California, Berkeley.

"It is gratifying to see an outstanding man in the leadership of Azerbaijan. He is ably to lead the country and pursue a balanced foreign policy, thanks to which a country develops and prospers," Zadeh said.

He said President Ilham Aliyev pursues a smart policy, not making any bias towards one or another country. "The country has a balanced foreign policy and gets benefits from this. Azerbaijan must maintain this balance," Zadeh said.

"I think Azerbaijan is located in a quiet position. The social situation in Azerbaijan is stable. The country develops in a democratic way. One can observe uneasy situation in other countries of Central Asia and South Caucasus, such as Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Armenia. But the situation in Azerbaijan is very stable," he said.

Zadeh said, he would tell Clinton a lot of positive about Azerbaijan, which is also a country with a highly developed culture, science an intelligent human resources. During the visit, Clinton is expected to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
