Azerbaijani Defense Ministry has confirmed the shooting between Azerbaijani and Armenian armies that have claimed at least four lives on June 18.

“The shooting between Azerbaijani and Armenian armed forces did take place,” Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Spokesperson Eldar Sabiroglu said.
“The shooting lasted for a while, and the Armenians retreated having suffered losses,” Sabiroglu said. He also said, that shooting on the contact line have become common lately adding that it was surprising that the Armenia side confessed its defeat for the first time.
"Usually, Armenians are trying to hide their losses. I think that we should not look for causes here. Authorities and army leadership is concerned over anger and discontent of the Armenian people,” he said.
According to him, the Armenian side has suffered more losses than it reports.
“Armenia breaches ceasefire to avoid the Madrid Principles. By doing so, Armenia lures itself into a trap, and this should be seen as yet another provocation," he noted. Sabiroglu said if Armenia fails to withdraw from Azerbaijan’s occupied lands and proceeds with similar provocations, it will get even stronger blows.
