Azerbaijani CEC has new deputy chairman

The ruling New Azerbaijan Party nominated Shaitdin Aliyev as the Central Election Commission's (CEC) new deputy chairman at a parliamentary meeting today. By the end of the meeting, Aliyev's candidacy was confirmed.

While addressing parliament, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov nominated Aliyev for the role. He added that the chairman said Aliyev has a long history of successful political and social activity and will make a strong contribution to the organization as its new deputy chairman. The post of CEC deputy chairman was left vacant after Svetlana Gasimova's death.
