Venice Commission provides conclusion on Azerbaijan's Constitution Law on "Normative legal acts"

The 83rd plenary session of the Venice Commission started today.
Azerbaijan’s “Normative legal acts” was adopted by discussing the opinion of commission connected with the draft of Constitution Law.

In November of last year, head of Department of Legislation and Legal Expertise of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Aliyev sent this document to Venice Commission for giving an opinion to draft of Constitution Law on “Normative legal acts”.

Italian member of Venice Commission Bartole and Swiss expert Mader gave their opinions on the mentioned document. Azerbaijan’s Representative to the Venice Commission Latif Huseynov noted that he assessed the draft of Constitution Law positively. He said that he would present the adopted opinion by Venice Commission to Azerbaijani Government soon.

Huseynov said that draft of Constitution Law would be discussed first at the Parliament’s Legal Policy and State Building Committee on June 7 and then it would be presented for 3rd reading at the plenary meeting of Parliament on June 18. According to procedure, the draft must be put to the vote at the Parliament for adoption after 6 months.
