Azerbaijani FM meets Bundestag member

They praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Germany, saying the two countries had great opportunities to expand relations in various spheres, including oil and gas. Link said Europe attaches special importance to the South Caucasus region.

Touching upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mammadyarov said it must be settled on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, particularly Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

He recalled that the European Union unanimously supported Azerbaijan's territorial integrity in its recently-adopted resolution on the need for an EU Strategy for the South Caucasus. For his part, Link said the German Bundestag adopted on May 14 last year a resolution on the South Caucasus, as well.

He stressed his country backs Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, and considers that the conflict must be resolved on the principles of territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.
