Azerbaijan's embassy in China marks Republic Day

The event was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping, representatives of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, diplomats, Azerbaijani businessmen, students and journalists. Opening the event, ambassador Yashar Aliyev spoke of the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

The diplomat also touched upon the Azerbaijan-China relations saying they were developing in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. He underlined China and Azerbaijan support each-other's territorial integrity. Guoping congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the occasion.

He recalled Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi's recent meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov, during which, he added, they discussed prospects for development of bilateral cooperation. The event participants were handed over a magazine entitled “A passage to Azerbaijan” featuring the country's history, politics, economy, culture, as well as Azerbaijan-China relations.
