Deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan participates in 22nd meeting of BSEC Council of Foreign Ministers

Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev has attended the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) held on 28 May 2010 in Sofia with the theme “BSEC-EU Relations”.
Speaking to the event, Mammadguliyev touched on the BSEC's outlook. He found the need to narrow the focus of cooperation within BSEC to concentrate on concrete projects. He underlined the importance of intensifying the work of the BSEC Permanent International Secretariat. According to him, Azerbaijan is interested in deepening cooperation between the European Union and BSEC.

The diplomat said solving of problems impeding economic cooperation is important. He noted economic cooperation would not be effective without resolving existing conflicts and establishing stability in the region.

On the sidelines of the forum, Mammadguliyev held bilateral meetings with Deputies Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, Greece and Albania to discuss cooperation both on a bilateral basis and within international organizations.

Nickolay Mladenov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, chaired the meeting in his capacity as the Chairman-in-Office of the Organization.

The representatives of the BSEC Member States, as well as Related Bodies, BSEC Observers3, Sectoral Dialogue Partners and other guests participated in and delivered statements at the meeting.
