Azerbaijan Democratic Republic's 92nd anniversary marked in Tabriz

Azerbaijan's Consulate General in Tabriz has organized an official reception to mark 28 May – Day of Republic.
The event was attended by Iranian officials and Consulate General staffers. Addressing the event, Consul General Aykhan Suleymanov spoke of the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. On the Azerbaijan-Iran relations, he said national leader Heydar Aliyev made great contributions to strengthening them, adding President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues this policy.

Touching upon the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the consul general noted 20% of Azerbaijan`s territories had been occupied by Armenia. “Armenians have demolished historical and religious monuments in the occupied lands,” he added.

Suleymanov pointed out President Ilham Aliyev continues efforts towards finding peaceful solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

“However, Azerbaijan will resort to other ways to liberate its territories if the talks give no results,” he added.

Governor Assistant of the Eastern Azerbaijan province Ashraf Niya highlighted relations between Azerbaijan and Iran. He also praised the activity of the Consulate General.
