27 May 2010 [13:18] - TODAY.AZ
The Georgian Central Election Commission (CEC) will provide areas densely populated with Azerbaijanis ballots and informational brochures in the Azerbaijani language, CEC head Zurab Kharatishvili informed Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Namig Aliyev.

The parties discussed preparations for local elections and measures to ensure that the Azerbaijani population receives ballots in their native language.

"The CEC has done important work to ensure the electoral rights of ethnic minorities in Georgia. We also agreed that the new Electoral Code will be translated into Azerbaijani," Aliyev said.

The CEC has already started to print the ballots. In total, about 8 million ballots will printed, including 200,000 for ethnic minorities. Georgia will hold local elections May 30.
