Azerbaijan's CEC releases number of voters in parliamentary elections

26 May 2010 [17:33] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) has released the number of voters in the parliamentary elections in 2010.
Based on the submitted lists, the number of resident voters is 4,829,000 people, CEC Secretary Natig Mammadov told journalists.

"Preparation of electoral lists was carried out at a high level. The names of non-resident citizens will be included in the list before the elections," he said.

"The natural disasters did not affect the process of compiling lists," Mammadov said.

Lists of voters are specified by local electoral commissions since January and they were submitted to the district election commissions (DEC) Feb.5. The DECs summed up these details and passed them to the CEC April 5. Holding of the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan is scheduled for early November. During the last presidential elections in 2008, the number of voters was 4,834,584 people.
