Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran marks Republic Day

The event brought together Iranian officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, and heads of offices of international organizations. Opening the event, ambassador Javanshir Akhundov briefed the participants on the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

He highlighted Heydar Aliyev's efforts to solve the problems that Azerbaijan faced during the first years of independence. The diplomat pointed out the national leader placed a particular stress on developing the Azerbaijan-Iran relationship.

He added President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the national leader's policy. The ambassador also praised cultural and economic relations between the two countries.
