"Council of Europe supports early settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict"

"Problems of the Council of Europe member countries are our common problems. We are aware of the negative impact of regional conflicts on the morale of people. Therefore, we support the settlement of regional conflicts, especially early settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh  conflict peacefully" Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Maud de Boer-Buquicchio said at a meeting with the parliamentary group on protection of children's rights, held May 25 in Milli Mejlis.

Deputy Chairman of Parliamentary Group, MP of Milli Majlis Gular Ahmedova provided detailed information on the activities implemented in the country to protect the rights of children.

"On President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP Mehriban Aliyeva's initiative our country carried out the works in the direction of protecting children's rights and addressing the problems of children and families. Our state always focused on solving of problems related with education, health, and social loneliness of children," Ahmadova said.

Centers for the treatment of patients with thalassaemia and hemophilia, new schools were built in our Republic. Repair works were conducted in several secondary schools, almost all schools are equipped with computers.

Members of the parliamentary group, MPs of Milli Majlis Asef Hajiyev, Rovshan Rzayev, Rafael Jabrayilov, Ahmad Veliyev, Govher Bakhshaliyeva, Havva Mammadova, Hikmet Atayev in their speeches highlighted the existence of problems whose solution is impossible because the Azerbaijani territories are under Armenian occupation.

The MPs highlighted the problem of moral-psychological condition of people who became refugees and IDPs as a result of Armenian aggression, and, in particular, those who were or still are held hostage. According to Buquicchio, projects related to children's problems, implemented by the Azerbaijani Government and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, win approval.
