UN Secretary General condemns Karabakh 'elections'

The letter says that "the United Nations has not been involved in `parliamentary elections` slated for May 23, 2010, in Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Azerbaijan Republic". Moreover, the United Nations does not acknowledge the illegal elections and does recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as the integral part of Azerbaijan.

The United Nations approved recent positive dynamics in the process of peace negotiations in accordance with OSCE Minsk group's proposals hoping that both Armenia and Azerbaijan will use the opportunities to push the process of peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute ahead, the letter says.
