European Union intends to enhance cooperation with Azerbaijan under "Eastern Partnership" this year

European Union intends this year to enhance cooperation with Azerbaijan within the bounds of the "Eastern Partnership", Stefan Fule, European Union Enlargement Commissioner, told journalists on Monday in Sopot.
"Only this year it will be possible to create a special group to cooperate with Azerbaijan within the bounds of" Eastern Partnership". The group will discuss security and visa policy of the EU and of course the rights in the country" - he said.

Negotiations will begin in June, said the commissioner. According to him, the sides will begin a dialogue on liberalization of visa regime. "The main objective of cooperation - make six countries of " Eastern Partnership" to hold a deep reforms and bring countries closer to EU", - said Fule.

Inaugurated by the European Union in May 2009 the program "Eastern Partnership" provides an activation of cooperation of EU with eastern neighbours of european unification. The program, for the implementation of which was allocated  600 million euros, includes Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Moldova. Initiated by Poland with the support of Sweden "Eastern Partnership", according to the original idea of  the authors, had to bring closer the state program members to integrate with the EU.
