Austrian embassy to Azerbaijan to be officially inaugurated next month

The ambassador said a large delegation from Austria will attend the inauguration. The delegation also includes Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger and Minister of Economy. The ambassador noted that a number of bilateral meetings will be held during the visit of the delegation.

Sieglinde Spanlang added that Azerbaijan is the only country where Austria opens its embassy in 2010.

“About 30 Austrian companies are operating in Azerbaijan. This increases Austria’s interest in Azerbaijan. That’s why we have opened our embassy here. In connection with the financial crisis Austria has suspended functioning of its embassies in several countries. But despite this we consider it necessary to open our embassy in Azerbaijan,” Sieglinde Spanlang said.

Sieglinde Spanlang has been Austrian ambassador to Azerbaijan since the end of 2009.
