First deputy chair of Azerbaijani parliament to attend NATO PA spring session

Speaking to journalists, Asgarov said he will meet NATO President John Tanner to inform him on the current state of peace talks on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Asgarov stressed NATO backed Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity during its last summits in Bucharest and Riga.

“We`ve achieved the adoption of a decision on Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity at the NATO PA committee on security and defense. Now we are trying to achieve this on the Parliamentary Assembly level. We have grounds for it.

If NATO backed Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, so why the Parliamentary Assembly not do the same?” Asgarov stressed.

He underlined fighting against terror, situation in Afghanistan and Balkans and climate change these were among critical issues concerning NATO.

Asgarov said: “We will inform the attendees on current state of these issues in Azerbaijan.”
