Deputy Chair of the Azerbaijani Parliament, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE PA Bahar Muradova, as well as Azeri MPs Eldar Ibrahimov, Rabiyyat Aslanova and Fattah Heydarov attended the OSCE forum entitled “Eurasian Dimension” held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The forum discussed a number of issues, including economic development, management of trade resources and problems of environment. Speaking to the event, MP Ibrahimov said Azerbaijan suffered the least from the global crisis in 2009, adding “economy of Azerbaijan grew by 9.3% thanks to effective financial and economic policy”.

He stressed, “Azerbaijan, leading economic center of the region, has integrated politically and economically into European structures”. Ibrahimov noted that Azerbaijan transports gas, except for Armenia, to all neighbor countries including Turkey and Greece.

He underlined Azerbaijan makes “great contribution to energy security in the OSCE area”.
The MP stressed Azerbaijan is paying special attention to expansion of international trade and joining the World Trade Organization.

“In 2009, Azerbaijan carried out trade operations with 137 countries of the world”, he added.

Ibrahimov also informed attendees on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and vandalism of Armenians in the occupied Azerbaijani territories.

“The main problem for Azerbaijan is occupation of its lands by Armenia. During the years of occupation, Armenia destroyed 20.000 hectares of forests and 30 species of flora and fauna in Azerbaijan. Armenians also destroyed 80.000 hectares of Azerbaijani lands, including houses, graveyards and historic monuments,” he said.

Ibrahimov stated on behalf of Azerbaijan delegation that the time has come to prepare mechanisms to make members of OSCE and other international organizations to fulfill their obligations
