Key to successful future in South Caucasus is refusal from ideology of chauvinism

Azerbaijani consul general to Los Angeles Elin Suleymanov spoke to the students of Santa Barbara's college, California, the consulate general said.

The diplomat spoke about Azerbaijani contribution in the dialogue of civilizations and the centuries-old traditions of tolerance in Azerbaijani society.

Speaking about rich and varied cultural heritage of Caucasus peoples, Suleymanov stressed that the key to successful and peaceful future for the region is to abandon the policy of ethnic expansionism and ideology of chauvinism. He said that the U.S. side can make a major contribution to the development of the region, including Armenia, intensifying its efforts to resolve the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

As to the strategic importance of the region in terms of the U.S long-term interests, Consul General expressed Azerbaijan's readiness to the expansion of equal partnership between the two countries for mutual benefit.

Azerbaijani diplomat said that successful regional policy must differ by constancy of strategic vision and lack of double standards.
