The Council of Europe (CE) should express its unequivocal position on the issue of Azerbaijanis, who were forced to leave their homes as a result of Armenian aggression, Azerbaijani MP and Member of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Ganira Pashayeva said at the meeting with PACE President Movlud Cavusoglu.

"Before, you have headed the PACE Commission on Refugees. Now we would ask you, as the PACE president, not to remain indifferent to the fate of nearly a million of our compatriots who become IDPs as a result of Armenian aggression," Pashayeva said.

Around one million Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their native lands as a result of Armenian aggression.

CE recognized Armenia as predatory state. "However, today invader Armenia and Azerbaijan, whose lands are under occupation, are equal members of the structure. We must put an end to this injustice," Pashayeva said.

She believes Cavusoglu must take seriously the issue of execution of resolutions reflecting the aggressive policy of Armenia.

"If Europe will treat this matter with great care, can be put to an end to Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan, Pashayeva added.

In turn, Cavusoglu said the problem of refugees is also highly relevant in Europe. "During my activity, I intend to pay serious attention to these issues," he added.

Cavusoglu added that he is aware of the state of IDPs in Azerbaijan, and in particular the elderly, women and children.

"I will make every effort to promote positive movement of the process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I believe addressing this issue, we will be able to secure the return of IDPs to their homes," Cavusoglu said.

According to him, Turkey also strives to establish peace in the region. "Being aware of the responsibility entrusted to me, I give my word that as head of PACE, I will exert every possible effort to solve Azerbaijan's problems," Cavusoglu said.
