Azerbaijani President vists Azerbaijan's Shirvan city - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inspected ongoing construction of Janub power station in Shirvan city of Azerbaijan.

The power station will produce 6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which will allow to save 780 million cubic meters of gas or 650,000 tons of mazut.

The power station will feature 4 gas and 2 steam turbines, 6 generators, 3 sub-stations and 3 gas compressors.

The construction of the facility is scheduled to complete in 2011.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has inaugurated Shirvan City Central Culture House here after a complete overhaul.

The President viewed photos reflecting the house's look before the overhaul.

The Central Culture House has a 247-seat hall and a number of offices.

President Aliyev also praised the reconstruction work.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev laid the foundations of Olympic Sports Complex in the country's Shirvan city.

The complex will occupy a total area of 5 hectares. It will feature a 1000-seat sports hall, 250-seat pool, wrestling ground and gym.

The complex will also have a 1500-seat football stadium and basketball, volleyball and tennis grounds.

The President put a time capsule into the complex`s foundation and covered it with liquid concrete.

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev inspected reconstruction work at a telemechanical factory of the Defense Industry Ministry`s Aggregate Production Association in Shirvan.

The President first put flowers at a bust to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the factory`s yard. The Head of State then opened a new production shop. The facility manufactures products for both military and civil use.

The President viewed an exhibition of military products.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the reconstruction work at the factory.

Today, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev opened the Araz plant of the Ministry of Defense Industry's Aggregate Production Association.

First, the Head of State put flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the yard of the plant.

The President cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the facility and became familiar with it. The Head of State saw a video featuring the previous view of the plant and its layout.

President Ilham Aliyev familiarized himself with the Heydar Aliyev museum established in the plant.

The President also viewed an exhibition of civil and military products. He was then  informed, that reconstruction in the facility started after the establishment of the Ministry of Defense Industry.

The territory of the plant covers 174 hectares. It employs 70 people.

President Ilham Aliyev praised the work done, and gave certain instructions and recommendations.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today officially opened the Heydar Aliyev Center here.

The Head of State cut a ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the center and toured the facilities here, which include conference hall, library, computer room. The “Young Heydarists” circle functions in the center.

A bust and small monuments to national leader Heydar Aliyev were set up here.
President Ilham Aliyev signed the center`s guestbook.

The Head of State met with Shirvan residents to congratulate them on the opening of the center.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev started his trip to city of Shirvan by visiting the Heydar Aliyev square.

Head of state laid flowers on the monument of the national leader. President Aliyev familiarized himself with recovery work here.

A fountain, and a 22 meter high Azerbaijani state flag were installed at the square.
