U.S embassy: Delay in appointment of new U.S ambassador to Azerbaijan not related to relations between countries

Many people in Azerbaijan believe that an eight-month absence of U.S ambassador is due to problem in relations between the two countries, but it is not true, head of the U.S embassy's public relations office Terry Davidson said.

"The absence of ambassador is associated with the internal process in the United States. It is not connected with the relations betwen the United States and Azerbaijan", Davidson said.

According to him, determining and approving a candidate for the post of ambassador by the White House is very slow process.

The post of U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan has been vacant since June 2, 2009.
