China exports electric locomotives to Iran

06 January 2010 [16:19] - TODAY.AZ
The Islamic Republic of Iran will receive 14 electronic locomotives from Iran, People's Daily reported.
According to the report, 14 electric locomotives manufactured by China-based Norinco International Cooperation Limited (Norinco) were shipped from a port in Shanghai for the Iran-based Tehran Wagon Manufacturing Company (TWM) under a supply contract January 3.

The contract is the largest ever in terms of export value in China's railway locomotive industry, and China holds the independent intellectual property rights for all the exported locomotives.

In July 2007, Norinco signed a contract with TWM to supply 424.5 million euros worth of electric locomotives, double stack passenger coaches, and metro trains for Tehran's Subway Line 1, 2 and 5.
