Withdrawal of Armenian invader troops from Azerbaijan is in favor of Armenia, too: Iranian ambassador

07 December 2009 [12:43] - TODAY.AZ
“Withdrawal of Armenian invader troops from Azerbaijan is in favor of Armenia too”, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mahammad Bagir Bahrami said at a news conference on Dec. 7.

The ambassador said there is a need for unity in the region.

“Karabakh conflict is a problem that harms and weakens the region. Iran wants this conflict to be solved peacefully in favor of Azerbaijan. Iran has always condemned the occupation. No invader can stay in the occupied lands," he said.

"The history is saying that. We all witnessed the Saddam Hussein’s fate after he occupied Iranian territory”.

Bahrami noted that the region would be developed after the liberation of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The development is a guarantee for peace. Iran always supports peace. If the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is solved, whole region will be in peace. This problem should be solved through efforts of regional countries, but not outside forces”.

The ambassador said the OSCE Minsk Group activities are not fruitful.

"They don’t strive to reach a result. They pursue only their own interests," the ambassador said.
