OIC Youth Forum sends voices protest against Euronews report

03 December 2009 [17:14] - TODAY.AZ
Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation condemns the documentary "Nagorno-Karabakh - a wind of change"  recently aired during the "Reporter" program on Euronews TV channel, the YF board said.

The OIC YF believes the film depicts situation in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan in a one-sided and biased manner.

“It is surprising that the film gives no information about real causes of the conflict, the situation of the Azerbaijani refugees and displaced persons who have been victims of ethnic cleansing by current Armenian government,” the Forum said in a statement.

“Given that the channel Euronews is a multilingual and multi-million audience, covering a vast continent, airing such a misleading film has a negative impact on public opinion regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Europe.”

“Showing provocative films at a time of intensified talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which is encouraged by active participation of the European community giving hopes for a just settlement of the conflict, may negatively affect public opinion about the true motives of European participation in the negotiation process,” it said in a statement.

OIC YF urges leadership of the channel to take the necessary measures to stop demonstration of the film, as well as to prepare an report on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of objective and balanced information.
