Azerbaijan attends Islamic world exhibition in Washington

One of Smithsonian Institution’s galleries – the Freer gallery – hosted an exhibition about Islamic World including Azerbaijan in Washington DC on Nov. 30.
The exhibition features more than 2,200 examples of art and historical artifacts which date back to IX-XX centuries, one of the exhibition organizers said.

One can find at the Freer gallery a huge collection of ceramics dated IX-XIII centuries from Iran, Azerbaijan and other territories that were under Arab Caliphate.

The exhibition also includes Egyptian and Syrian metalwork, a collection of Qurans from Iran, the Arab world and Turkey and lots of illustrated and illuminated manuscripts from Iran and the rest of territories under the former Arab Caliphate.

The exhibition also explains the basics of Islam, retails its history, art and geography and unknown details.
