Azerbaijani president heads to Russia - UPDATE

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev left for a working visit to Ulyanovsk city of Russia on Nov. 24.

Russian and Azerbaijani presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Ilham Aliyev participated in the solemn opening ceremony of the upper deck of the bridge across the Volga river in Ulyanovsk.

Medvedev said the construction of the bridge began early in the 80s of the past century.

He said first deputy chairman of the USSR Cabinet of Ministers decided to construct the bridge.

Medvedev noted he was pleased that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev participated in the solemn opening ceremony.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev welcomed Azerbaijani President at Ulyanovsk airport.

The presidents left the airport in the same car. The heads of state will discuss bilateral cooperation and solution to Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Moreover, they will put flowers before the monument erected to Heydar Aliyev in the park named after the national leader of Azerbaijan.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev left for a working visit to Ulyanovsk city of Russia on Nov. 24.

At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the head of state was seen off by Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Chief of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalybov.
