Turkey condemns terrorist attcks in Iraq

26 October 2009 [12:32] - TODAY.AZ
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a phone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki on Sunday and expressed grief over the deaths of up to 140 people in Sunday's double bombing in Baghdad, diplomats said, Turkish Weekly reported.
"I learned that up to 140 people were killed this morning in Baghdad. I heard the news in Pakistan's Islamabad where I am paying a formal visit. I and Pakistan's Prime Minister Raza Gilani condemned the terrorist attack. Our foreign minister called your foreign minister to tell him that Turkey was ready to treat wounded people in our hospitals. Besides, we want you to know that we are ready to meet all other your needs," Erdogan told Maliki.

"We absolutely condemn terrorism. Nothing can legitimize deaths of civilian people," he said.

He added that Turkey and Iraq should fight terrorism together, saying Turkish people would always stand by their Iraqi brothers and sisters.
