Turkey pursues independent foreign policy: FM

22 October 2009 [08:53] - TODAY.AZ
Turkey does not act under anybody's order and it has always pursued independent foreign policy," Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said at a speech before the members of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, TRT 3 television channel reported.
"Nobody has the right to accuse Turkey that it acts under the pressure of external forces," Davutoglu said.

The events around the Azerbaijani flag in Bursa are not part of the Turkish foreign policy and those who want to present it in the light of diplomacy want to harm the Turkish-Azerbaijani relations, the minister added.

On Oct. 21, the Turkish parliament launched discussions on the Armenian-Turkish protocols.

During the speech by the MP from the ruling Justice and Development Party of Turkey Omer Chelik, MPs from the opposition left the meeting hall of Parliament as protest.

Turkish and Armenian foreign ministers Ahmet Davutoglu and Edward Nalbandian signed the Armenia-Turkey protocols in Zurich on Oct. 10.
