Azerbaijani, Russian interior ministries sign protocol on cooperation

Azerbaijani and Russian interior ministries began joint security measures against international terrorism and transnational crime.
High-ranking security officials of both countries met in Khachmaz town of Azerbaijan on Tuesday to discuss the current situation of cooperation between the interior ministries of Azerbaijan and Russia and joint measures to be carried out in 2010.

The meeting was held at the initiative of Azerbaijani Interior Minister Ramil Usubov.

Russian Deputy Interior Minister Arkadi Yedelyev, Dagestan’s Interior Minister Ali Magomedov and top officials of the interior ministries of both countries attended the meeting.

Interior Minister of Azerbaijan Ramil Usubov said at the meeting the current relations between the two countries created good basis for cooperation.

The minister underlined importance of joint measures for a joint search operations, information exchange and certain crime combat measures.

Russian Deputy Interior Minister Arkadi Yedelyev also emphasized the development of relations between the two countries.

He informed the participants about the concrete measures taken to prevent extremism, terrorism and drug trafficking.

Interior Minister of Dagestan Ali Magomedov talked about the joint measures for security of borders in 2010.

Later on, the Azerbaijani and Russian interior ministries signed a protocol on cooperation.
