Azerbaijani defense minister meets Pakistani chairman of joint chiefs of staff

After visiting the tomb of the Azerbaijani nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and Alley of Martyrs, Pakistan`s Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid met here Azerbaijani Minister of Defense Colonel-General Safar Abiyev on Oct. 5.
Abiyev said Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize the independence of Azerbaijan.
The sides discussed a wide range of issues, including current level of military and political cooperation between the two nations, and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Ambassadors of both countries were present at the meeting.
