Council of Europe has double standards: Azerbaijani MP

“There are double standards in the Council of Europe. It discusses ban on Russian participation today. Why it doesn’t’ impose sanctions against Armenia? Armenia has occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands for 15 years, but the Council of Europe doesn’t impose any sanction against it”, said the Azerbaijani parliamentarian.

Zbogar said the Council of Europe does not pursue double-standard policy.

“The Council of Europe has same views on both Azerbaijan and Armenia. OSCE Minsk Group deals with the solution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and we support its efforts. We hope the conflict will be solved soon. I think the Council of Europe can not play important role in the solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict because it is not within our mandate. The Nagorno Karabakh conflict is a serious issue. I can only say that the displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh should return to their homeland."
