Chechen president accuses Georgia, Azerbaijan

24 September 2009 [14:54] - TODAY.AZ
Chechen president Ramzan Kadirov has sent a strongly-worded message to Azerbaijan.
In his message, he blames Georgia and Azerbaijan for arms supply for terrorists.

The Chechen president said militants received arms from the former soviet depots located in Georgia and Azerbaijan, Russia-based 'Zavtra' newspaper reported.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elkhan Polikhov denied the allegations adding Azerbaijan intends to see a peaceful region.

“Baku pursues policy of sustainable friendship and close cooperation with the neighbor countries under  agreement on friendship, cooperation and mutual security signed between Azerbaijan and Russia in 1997 followed by series high-level statements," Polukhov said.

"Azerbaijan strongly abides by that agreement and pursues policy of friendship”.
