Azerbaijan, which is part of the Islamic world and the largest country in the Caucasus, was destined to become the pivot of the Great Caucasus, the Chairman of the Islamic Committee of Russia Heydar Jamal told Trend News.
However, according to Jamal, Azerbaijani by nationality, Azerbaijan has to do much, in particular to reconsider relations with Islamic countries, in order to become a main country in the region. According to him, in addition to the Organization of the Islamic Conference and other major Muslim countries, Azerbaijan should establish contacts with "the Muslim street as the largest Muslim organizations that assume responsibility for historical process," In 2009, Baku was declared the capital of Islamic culture for its contribution to the development and preservation of Islamic culture. /Trend News/
