Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan: Caspian sea status may not be determined without participation of any littoral state

15 September 2009 [17:13] - TODAY.AZ
The status of the Caspian Sea may not be determined without participation of any of the littoral states, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Muhammadbaghir Bahrami said at a new conference.
“It is impossible to determine status of the Caspian Sea without participation of any of the littoral states,” the ambassador said commenting on a recent informal Aktau summit of the Caspian littoral states from CIS.

He said Iran has clearly expressed its stance on the Aktau meeting.

“The Caspian Sea status must be determined based on mutual respect after collapse of the Soviet Union.”

“The five coastal states have held a lot of meetings. Today 70-80 percent of the problem have been resolved and the rest must also be addressed by these countries,” he added.
