Washington to host conference on U.S.-Azerbaijan strategic partnership

A conference “Strategic Partnership between U.S. and Azerbaijan: Bilateral and Regional Criteria” will be held in Georgetown University in Washington on Sept. 18.
The conference is organized by Center for Eurasian, Russian and Eastern European Studies at the Georgetown University and the Azerbaijan embassy in the United States.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov, Deputy U.S. Secretary of State William Burns, a professor at Georgetown University and Sen. Chuck Hagel, as well as a number of prominent American scholars and public figures will make speeches.

This is the second conference held by the university together with the Azerbaijani embassy.

The first, titled "U.S.-Azerbaijan Cooperation: Energy and Security in the Context of Regional Challenges" took place in March last year.

Georgetown University, the oldest educational institution in Washington and one of the most prestigious U.S. universities, is the alma mater for many American statesmen and politicians.
