Azerbaijan takes measures to ensure security on eve of municipal elections

"Instruction on protection of public order were given to prepare for the municipal elections. The police has upped security for all facilities of national importance. Necessary preventive measures are taken to prevent possible terrorist attacks," Deputy Interior Minister Oruj Zalov said at the specialized courses on electoral law for chairmen of district election commissions on Sept. 11.

Municipal elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for mid-December.

Zalov said a plan of actions, necessary to be implemented on the eve of the municipal elections, has been already prepared.

"The action plan includes providing security of candidates, prevention of violation of public order and unauthorized or inconsistent mass actions aimed at provocation, revealing and withdrawal of illegally weapons, conducting a comprehensive inspection of buildings where electoral commissions are based," the deputy minister said.
