Serious politicians not to discuss Iran's proposals: Russian expert

"Serious politicians will not consider proposals of Iran," Satanovsky said.

"Political officials, such as ElBaradei, could present Iranian proposal as "a platform for dialogue" in order not to endorse his impotence and inability to influence Iran."

Last Wednesday Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki officially submitted the '5+1' (Russia, Germany, China, USA, France and Britain) a package of proposals regarding the nuclear issue and other international issues, according to Iranian television channel Press TV.

According to Russian expert, presenting its package of proposals, Iran plays for time, bringing nuclear weapons to readiness.

"The package of suggestions of Iran will be a mixture of anti-Israeli proposals and populist proposals, designed to foment conflict between the threshold countries and the countries of the third world, seeking to nuclear status, and the West," Satanovsky said.

In July, U.S. President Barack Obama called on Iran to respond by September to the proposal of '5+1', envisaging giving up uranium enrichment in exchange for trade concessions. Several European countries, particularly France and Germany, have already said they will seek tougher sanctions if Tehran does not give a concrete answer till the given deadline.

Last week, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran Saeed Jalili announced that Iran is ready to resume dialogue with the leading world powers.

Press TV reported that the details of Tehran's proposals are not disclosed. Iranian authorities claim that along with issues of nuclear cooperation, they involve a number of international issues and can become a new basis for negotiations and cooperation.

However, according to Satanovsky, Iran's package of proposals will not change the existing situation, since a compromise between Iran and Western countries on the key issue of Iran's nuclear program is impossible.

U.S. and other Western countries accuse Iran of developing nuclear weapons for military purposes under the guise of peaceful nuclear energy program. Tehran denies the charges, saying its nuclear program is aimed at providing country's electricity needs.

Last Monday Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he was willing to discuss with Obama several international issues, but he did not intend to negotiate on Iran's nuclear program. According to the President, official Tehran considers nuclear program a "resolved issue", and this topic is not under discussion.
