Grant-related activity of Fund for State Support to Media Development can be considered successful: senior Azerbaijani official

"If one carefully looks for shortages, they can be found in activities of any organization. But, I think fund's grant activities can be considered successful," Ali Hasanov told reporters.

The Fund for State Support to Media Development under the Azerbaijani President announced a competition on June 25. The maximum amount of grant for each project was 20,000 manat. Applications were accepted on July 1-31.

The winners include 30 newspapers, 13 news agencies, 6 media organizations and 6 other relevant organizations.

Hasanov said the fund has been established this year and only has recently started to work.

"There are some difficulties, particularly in the classification of media outlets, determining which media outlets actually engaged in information activity in Azerbaijan ensuring transparency of society. Therefore, the fund's first steps can be considered successful," he said.
