Beijing favors implementation of the four UN Security Council resolutions which urge unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the Azerbaijani lands, Chinese ambassador to Azerbaijan Jan Yannyan said.

“China supports Azerbaijan's position (on resolution of the conflict), favors implementation of certain UN resolutions and peaceful resolution to the conflict and supports the international community's efforts in this regard,” the ambassador said speaking on Friday at the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Azerbaijan.
The diplomat said China and Azerbaijan consistently support each other in solving the Karabakh and Taiwan problems.
“China considers Azerbaijan to be major country in the Caucasus and attaches great importance to developing relation with the country,” he added.
Yannyan also noted the presence of a large potential for development of bilateral relations in trade and economic sphere.
The Chinese diplomat said that the volume of trade between the two countries in 2008 totaled $800 million. There are about 15 large and reputable Chinese companies in Azerbaijan with total volume of Chinese investment in Azerbaijani economy totalling about $500 million.
