Azerbaijan's economy continues to move forward: president (UPDATE)

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated brickworks in country’s Hajigabul region on Sept. 3.

The brickworks’ staff cordially greeted the president.

The president got thoroughly acquainted with the company and watched the production process.

The president congratulated the staff on this occasion and delivered a speech.

“Production is constantly growing in Azerbaijan. Industrial production has increased this year. Despite the fact that in most countries industrial production has dropped, Azerbaijan experiences a growth. Construction of brickworks means continuation of development of construction sector. Otherwise, it is unlikely that it would be necessary to build brickworks,” the president said.

“In recent years, Azerbaijan has created thousands of new businesses. Local production has increased and imports have reduced. We meet our demand for agricultural products to a great degree. It is encouraging that production sites launched over this period meet the highest world standards.”

“I am sure that this brickworks does not differ from its precedents in most developed countries. We see here a high quality production standards. Large funds have been invested. There are very expensive machines. This indicates that local entrepreneurs are confident in Azerbaijan’s further economic development. Socio-political situation in Azerbaijan, as always, will be at the highest level,” the president added.

“Political stability is an essential condition for economic development. Developing regions of the country strengthens our entire economic and political potential.”

The president also inaugurated Children’s Medical Center.

President Aliyev cut the tape to mark opening of the center built to prevent children’s diseases.
 
The president congratulated the staff on this occasion and made his remarks.

“Heath problems are being successfully addressed in Hajigabul. First a hospital, later Children’s Medical center was put into operation. We must make efforts to ensure high-quality health care nationwide,” the president said.

“Azerbaijan will further take important steps in health system in the coming years. Funds earmarked for health care increase every year and  infrastructure is constantly upgraded.  Major research centers are created in Baku and in all regions of the country.”

“We must make efforts to bring health care infrastructure of Azerbaijan to an adequate level in the next few years,” the president noted.

“This demonstrates possibility of a general development of each country. For example, everyone can see funds allocated and attention to the health system in Azerbaijan. Strong economy is a foundation of strong social policy,” he added.
 
“Azerbaijan’s regions have recently seen large constructive work. New infrastructure – schools, medical institutions, electric power stations are being built and new roads, gas and water pipelines are being laid.”

“It has a good reason - good economic policies, political stability, unity of the people and the government and timely resolution of existing problems in the country,” the president added.

Despite the economic crisis has gripped the world economy, Azerbaijani economy continues to move forward, said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Thursday speaking before the public in country’s  Hajigabul region.

"It is possible to say that the global financial crisis that has engulfed the entire world has slightly affected Azerbaijan," Aliyev said.

He said it is result of Azerbaijan’s current economic policy, political stability and timely resolution of existing problems.

"Over the past years, much have done in all regions of the country to improve living conditions, including building schools, improving infrastructure, building medical facilities and power plants," the president said.

"This development is also observed in Hajigabul region. The last five year have seen an increase in production of various products and overall economic growth," the president said.

During a visit to Hajigabul, Azerbaijani President familiarized himself with the Culture House after major overhaul.

Later the president inaugurated the brick-making plant.

The President visited the Heydar Aliyev monument and the Heydar Aliyev Museum.

The head of state participated in the opening ceremony of Hajigabul Children's Medical Center.
