NATO and Azerbaijan are discussing the possibility of using country’s air space by alliance’s contingent to reach Afghanistan.

“We are holding talks [about using air space] with several countries including Azerbaijan,” said NATO official, who asked to remain anonymous.
The NATO official also commented on recent reports by Deutsche Welle which claimed that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan undermined NATO mission in Afghanistan by not allowing contingent of German military men to fly to Afghanistan through their territories.
“We do not put the question this way and do not say that this did not took place because of Azerbaijan. We say that the use of country’s air space is being debated at the moment,” the NATO official said.
