Azerbaijan favors only peaceful use of nuclear energy: member of parliament

"A nuclear weapon is a great source of danger. Leading countries worry about North Korea's nuclear testing. The UN especially has expressed its anxiety," Deputy Executive Secretary of the governing New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) and MP Mubariz Gurbanli told the party's official Web site.  

Recently North Korea has intensified nuclear testing.

Gurbanli said that North Korea upgrading its nuclear weapons causes anxiety among the region's countries.

"The fight against spread of the nuclear weapons is universal. Azerbaijan has also joined it. Azerbaijan only supports peaceful use of the nuclear weapons. From a moral-political view, it is not acceptable to alarm others by obtaining nuclear weapons."
