26 August 2009 [09:53] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan’s Aydinlar party has faced a problem regarding the upcoming municipal elections to be held in December 2009, party’s deputy chairman Gorkhmaz Ibrahimli said.
He said many issues related to the municipal elections remains unsolved as party has not been registered with the Justice Ministry.

“The party Supreme Assembly will discuss this issue in September. If we do not get registered by that time, the party will set up an initiative group,” he said.

At the same time the party is preparing for the municipal elections and determines list of candidates, he added.

Ibrahimli did not exclude possibility that the party may join any bloc or alliance.

The party is chaired by Gulamhusein Alibayli. Previously, he was chairman of Supreme Assembly of Azerbaijan Popular Front Party. In August 2008, he left the party and run for president as an independent candidate. He won 2.25 percent of votes. In December he launched his own party Aydinlar.
