Dutch Secretary General to discuss Azerbaijan-Netherlands relations in Baku

The Secretary General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Ed Kronenburg will discuss cooperation prospects between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands in Baku in autumn.
The Secretary General's visit has been preliminarily scheduled for mid-Ocotber, the First Secretary of the Azerbaijani Embassy to the Kingdom of the Netherlands Elchin Bashirov said.

Kronenburg plans to discuss development of cooperation of the two countries in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.

The Netherlands' embassy is scheduled to be set up in Baku in October.

It was Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen who initiated to open the embassy.

The embassy will serve the purposes of Dutch businesses and deal with cooperation in energy sector.

The Dutch ambassador will operate in close contact with other ambassadors of the EU countries in Baku, as well as with embassies in Tbilisi and Ankara.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in the Netherlands was opened in 2007.

The turnover between Azerbaijan and the Netherlands totaled $17.8 million in January-April 2009.
