Azerbaijan’s opposition party determines list of candidates for municipal elections

Azerbaijan National Independence Party has completed the first round of preparations for municipal elections to be held in December 2009, party’s spokesperson Ali Orujov said.
He said the list of candidates who will participate in the elections has been approved.

“The second round of preparations will begin as soon as official election campaign is launched. We are going to nominate candidates for majority of municipalities,” Orujov said.

ANIP participated in the 2004 municipal elections. Number of municipalities have been reduced from 2,757 to 1,766 in Azerbaijan recently.
