Some Azerbaijani opposition parties prepare single list of candidates for municipal elections

Union for Democracy is composed of the Classic Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, the party Azadlig, the People's Party of Azerbaijan, Party Great Azerbaijan and the National Democratic Party of Azerbaijan.

Oruj said currently the union defines a single list of candidates who will participate in the elections.

“Some of the party activists are indecisive about their participation in the elections. However, the Union for Democracy intends to nominate candidates for most municipalities,” he said.

We also urge all opposition parties to unite and prepare a unified list of candidates. Opposition’s  participation as a union will bring more success,” Oruj said.  

Recently, number of municipalities in Azerbaijan was reduced from 2,757 to 1,766.
