19 August 2009 [17:49] - TODAY.AZ
New U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Tina Kaidanow will hold first official meetings in Georgia in September, Georgian parliament’s vice speaker Paata Davitaya said during a visit to the United States.
He said he has already met with Kaidanow.

Kaidanow will meet with both government and opposition members, he added.

“At the meeting we reviewed situation in conflict zones and results of Russian aggression. Great part of the 2-hour meeting was devoted to internal processes. Kaidanow stated that the United States attaches great importance to development of democracy in Georgia and in particular amendments to country’s electoral code,” he said.

Davitaya said special attention was paid to a need for development of democracy in Georgia. “The stronger will be the development of democracy in Georgia, the more U.S. will support our country,” Davitaya said.
