If Turkey not solves its problem, others will do it: Turkish president

19 August 2009 [13:17] - TODAY.AZ
Turkey should solve its problem itself, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said at the new conference, Turkish Anadolu news agency reported.
"Turkey should solve its problem itself. If we do not solve our problem, others will do it. It may lead the country to weakness and exploitation," Gul added.

"We will take into account the opinion of the opposition when solving Turkey's Kurd problem," Gul said.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently met with leader of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) Ahmet Turk. Erdogan described the meeting as positive saying that the Kurd problem will be solved soon. Turk described the meeting as start of dialogue between the parties.

Leader of the Turkish mainstream opposition, Republican People's Party (CHP) Deniz Baykal labeled this meeting as authorities' discussions with supporters of terrorism in the country. Baykal demands the authorities to express its opinion towards Kurds openly. Turkish interior Minister Bashir Atalay also met with leader of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) on Aug.13.
